The intake is excavated in rock on the right bank of the river.
The location is selected to prevent coarse sediments from entering
into the intake. Trashracks prevent floating debris from entering
the structure. The intake structure is equiped with mechanically
operated emergency gate.
The sluiceway is comprised of two gates of 4m wide and 5m height
mechanically operated. It is operated as a diversion structure
during construction of the overflow creast structure, as a flushing
device for coarse sediments deposited upstream of the intake structure,
and finally, the sluiceway is used to assist the flood evacuation
during critical periods.
